Help when renaming server

Hi.
Due to corporate guidelines we are "forced" to change the name of our Windows 2000 server which runs our precious SQL 7.0 server. I guess there are some issues I have to deal with afterwards to get the database engine up and about. Do any of you have good resources (URL's) or other information which you may share with me, to enable us rename our server without to much hassle. Please.

Look at sp_dropserver and sp_addserver in the BOL.

After having renamed the server, you just need to run sp_dropserver and then sp_addserver. You can look up the syntax in BOL.

Help Req: how to upgrade from MSDE to Standard Edition

I have Merge Publication with SQL Standard Edition publisher
and MSDE subscribers. Due to database size (1,8 GB) I'm preparing
to upgrade SQL Server subscribers from MSDE SP3a to Standard Edition.
Can I do this without breaking the subscription (i.e. simple upgrade),
or I have to unsubscribe , upgrade to SQL Standard Edition SP3a
and re-subscribe to publication.
What is the best practice ?
Any advice or link is appreciated.

The best approach would be to backup the databases, upgrade, restore them,
and then do no sync (the subscriber already has the schema and data)
subscriptions.
